
We're excited to announce that the Annual Literary Festival will return for the third year running!
Join us on Wednesday 5th February 2020 from 10 am – 2 pm for a celebration of all things literary. Held at the University Centre Grimsby in the Corner Lounge, the Annual Literary Festival is a chance to meet writers from all across the country. Enjoy live music from singer-songwriter Rachel Makena, meet bestselling authors, and watch the televised award ceremony for the winners of the 2019 Hammond House Writing Competition.
Entry is completely free and open to the public The festival will remain open to stay and chat until 3.00pm

Bestselling author, Lynette Creswell, will be joining us at the festival and will be running a free writing clinic, giving advice on anything literary – feedback on your writing, tips on how to get your work published, the difference between traditional and self-publishing, and more. Email admin@hammondhouse.org.uk to book your free 20-minute slot with Lynette, from 10 am - 11 am.
Celebrated poet, Paul Sutherland, will also be holding a poetry clinic. Email to book your free 20 minute slot with Paul, from 10 am - 11 am.

VISITOR INFORMATION
Arrival
There is no dedicated car parking for the festival. The front car park is often full but space should be available in the main car park.
Make your way to the Corner Lounge in the University Centre to register as a festival visitor and obtain your pass, which will give you access to the festival and allow you to buy refreshments in the Costa Café and Atrium Refractory.
Refreshments
The Atrium Refractory is open for breakfast until 11.00 am and for lunches after the awards ceremony until 2.00 pm. Costa Coffee is open from 10.30 pm – 4.00 pm.
Awards
The festival runs from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm. The awards ceremony will begin around 11.00 am and is scheduled to finish by 1.00 – 1.30
If you are expecting to receive an award (including shortlisted entries) please let the registration desk know on arrival.
Book Sales
Copies of the Leaving short story and poetry anthologies will be available to purchase at the registration desk. If you have purchased copies online these will be despatched on Thursday 6th February.
Filming and photography
A film crew from Billboard TV and college students will be recording and photographing the festival. Outputs will be broadcast on the Billboard Channel, websites and social media. By registering for the festival will be giving permission for filming and photography.
